I've been suffering from spring flue since last Saturday- thanks to the late and cold spring, I would imagine... Today I feel a bit better, so I've spent some time at the computer. Through surfing from blog to blog to blog I ended up on a page where there is a solution for a DYI quilter who doesn't own a bias tape maker. I've taught it to my students at a couple of occasions, but I can't recall having shown it here so far. Here is a link to a blog where it's shown perfectly.
My picture shows a regular binding, but my personal trick is to use toilet paper rolls to wrap binding or bias tape onto. The roll can then be placed to the knee lift of the sewing machine - or if you don't have one in your machine, you can alternatively use kitchen paper towel stand instead. That way the roll will stay on the table and not roll off to the floor.
