Seuraavana vuorossa on villihanhikehys työn ympärille, hanhiakin olin jo ommellut 24 kpl, mutta siihen työ sitten taas jäi - en edes muista milloin. Eilen aamulla ompelutarmoa riitti heti aamusta ja sen enempää miettimättä pystytin hanhitehtaan tuotantolinjan ompelupöydälle. Kuvassa koneen takana näkyvät aiemmin ompelemani neljä ensimmäistä satsia, viides on jo syntynyt ja kuudes alullaan.
Tässä ne nyt ovat silityspöydälleni laskeutuneina.
Over five years ago I got it in my head to start and sew along with the 2009 BOM of The Quilt Show, it is called Stars for a New Day. The first couple of months went well within the schedule, but then I dropped out of their pace, tried to catch up during the years, being now at the end of October with it.
The next step is a flying geese border around the quilt, and I have even done some of the geese - I don't even remember when I did it - but major part = 24 sets of six-geese-sets was still undone. From various techniques I had selected paper-piecing because it suits my nature the best: with paper piecing I can achieve precise results. It is a bit time consuming but I'll pay that price for the perfect tips and points.
Yesterday I had a strong sewing motivation from the very morning, so I set up a goose production line to my sewing table. Behind the machine you see the 24 geese already sewn, the first Saturday set finished and another going under the machine. After having sewn a couple of sets I timed my work, without errors it took about 28 minutes to finish. Multiply that by 24 sets, add several "maintenance" breaks, a 50-minute Nordic walking tour, you'll end up with a figure that suggests some sets left also for this morning.
But there they are now, just landed on my ironing table
